ICEA Robotics Lab
5-session Project [Sundays @ 11/9-12/14]
🚀 ICEA Robotics Research Lab: Build, Launch and Land Your Own Rocket!
Nolte Community Center
11555 National Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064
Project Overview:
In this hands-on 5-session program, students explore the exciting world of engineering, physics, and aerodynamics by designing and building their own launchable and catchable mini rockets! Through interactive experiments and real engineering tools, they’ll learn how science and creativity come together in aerospace design.
Schedule:
Nov. 9th – Dec. 14th, 2025, Sundays @6:15pm – 7:30pm (Exclude Nov. 23rd)
What Students Will Learn:
- ✈️ Aerodynamics & Rocket Science: Understand how thrust, gravity, and air resistance make rockets fly.
- 🧩 3D Design (CAD) & 3D Printing: Use Onshape to create and prototype rocket parts digitally, then bring them to life with 3D printing.
- 🌀 Springs & Energy: Experiment with spring compression, bending, and energy conversion from potential to kinetic motion.
- ⚙️ Physics in Action: Explore concepts like weight, force, and energy transfer through real-world tests.
- 🧲 Electromagnetism: Discover how electromagnets can be used in rocket launch mechanisms.
- 🧠 Engineering & Innovation: Problem-solve, redesign, and optimize each version of the rocket to achieve the best flight.
Final Challenge:
Students present their final rocket designs and demonstrate their launch and recovery systems in a thrilling showcase day!
